Eyal Shiloach
Conference Tour: Christian sites around the Lake of Galilee
Eyal Shiloach was born in Israel in 1963.
At the young age of 13, Shiloach was chosen to play at the opening concert of the Mishkenot Sha’ananim Music Centre together with the world-renowned violinist, Isaac Stern. A year later, he was awarded first prize in the Israel Broadcasting Authority competition for young soloists.
Shiloach studied violin with Professor Ilona Feher and later, with Professor Haim Taub, concertmaster of the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra. Upon completing these studies in 1984, Shiloach was invited by Isaac Stern to continue his studies in the United States, where he studied under Professor Michael Terry of the Guarneri Quartet. The America-Israel Cultural Foundation awarded him scholarships throughout his studies.
Eyal Shiloach has appeared as a soloist with the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra, the Broadcasting Authority Symphony Orchestra, the Israel Chamber Orchestra, the British National Orchestra and the Budapest opera Orchestra. He has participated in the Marlborough Festival in the US and served as concertmaster of the Tel-Aviv Symphony Orchestra, the Rishon Le-Zion Symphony Orchestra and the London Symphony Orchestra.
Shiloach performs as a soloist with orchestras and in recitals throughout Europe. He is invited to participate in chamber music festivals in Israel and throughout the world, and collaborates with world-class musicians.
Since 2002, Eyal Shiloach has been a member of the international Mahler Piano Quartet, with whom he has made concert tours in Europe and Israel.
In addition to his stature as a classical musician, Shiloach is also well known for his performance, arrangements and composition of Jewish spiritual music and Middle Eastern ethnic music. Most recently he has made two CD's of his arrangements of Jewish melodies, as well as his original melodies.
Eyal Shiloach is invited to lead masters’ classes in Israel and Europe. Since 1997, he has served as a music consultant for the Clore Music and Dance Center in the Upper Galilee.
